The Mission

Our mission is to create a vibrant, welcoming space in Maastricht where authentic international food and cross-cultural connections come together naturally. We believe food is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together — but too often, global cuisines are watered down or made to “fit in.” We’re flipping that idea on its head.

The Challenge

In a diverse, student-heavy city like Maastricht, there’s no go-to spot where international students and locals can just be — hang out, meet people from different backgrounds, eat real food from home (or someone else’s), and feel like they belong. The current food scene is either too Westernized, too pricey, or too formal. And social spaces? Often limited to bars or clubs — which doesn't appeal to everyone.

The solution

Melting Spot is our answer to Maastricht’s missing cultural and culinary heartbeat. We’re building a hybrid space that combines the soul of a global kitchen with the vibe of a community living room.
